Attachmate e-Vantage ViewMaster

Welcome Upgrading Overview Installation Requirements Procedure Starting

Upgrading

If you're already using ViewMaster 3.0 or ViewMaster 2.2.x, you can easily upgrade to this release.

Upgrading from ViewMaster 3.0

  • When upgrading from ViewMaster 3.0, do not remove your existing installation. Instead, install this release on the same computer.

  • If you upgrade any one of your viewers, you must upgrade all of them. For example, if you previously installed both the UTS and T27 viewers, you must upgrade both of them; do not upgrade just the UTS viewer without also upgrading the T27 viewer.

Upgrading from ViewMaster 2.2.x

  • ViewMaster has been redesigned to operate as client software rather than server software. However, if you are currently using ViewMaster 2.2.x on a server, you can continue to do so and still upgrade to this release by installing the new viewers in the same location as your existing viewers.

  • Caution Do not remove your existing installation. Doing so may cause the removal of the virtual directory needed for a server-based implementation.
  • If you upgrade any one of your viewers, you must upgrade all of them. For example, if you previously installed both the UTS and T27 viewers, you must upgrade both of them; do not upgrade just the UTS viewer without also upgrading the T27 viewer.

  • If you previously copied the viewers to a location other than where they were installed (such as an A Series or Unix host), you must copy the upgraded viewers to the same location.

Using ID Manager

  • If you previously used e-Vantage Resource Server 2.2.x, and you purchased Host Access Server v. 3.x, you can use ID Manager in the same way. In Host Access Server v. 3.2, ID is a function of MCS. However, ID Manager does not have to reside on the same server as ViewMaster. If you install ID Manager on a different server, you can specify its location when you create a new Web page using the ViewMaster Wizard, or you can edit your existing Web pages and specify its location using the TidServerAddress parameter. For more information, refer to the Attachmate e-Vantage ViewMaster Administrator's Guide.

  • If references to ID Manager do not appear in the ViewMaster Wizard, in the folder where you installed ViewMaster, open the file EvmCfg.ini and make sure that the following information appears in it:

      [EVM Wizard Configuration]
      UseTidServer=TRUE

  • You can use your existing Usertid.txt file and HostMap.txt file (if any) with ID Manager by copying them from their current location to the \mcs\data\resourceserver folder on the server where ID Manager is installed. For more information, see the Migrating ID Assignments and Host Names topic.
