When upgrading from HAS Management 2.2.x, you need to be aware of issues with installation, migration, security, and client access.
Although HAS Management 2.2.x and this release of HAS are similar in many ways, there are significant differences between them that affect how you upgrade from one release to the other.
For example, HAS Management 2.2.x runs only in a Windows environment; this release of HAS runs in both the Windows and Sun Solaris environments. When you upgrade, you can install HAS on your existing Windows server, or you can install it on a secondary windows server or on a Solaris server, and simply migrate your existing configuration data from the current server to the new server.
Even if you continue to use the same Windows server, installing this release of HAS will not affect your existing HAS Management 2.2.x installation. For this release the management components are installed in different locations, and as a result, none of your existing HAS Management 2.2.x files will be overwritten. Users at your site can continue to use HAS Management 2.2.x until you are ready to roll out the new release.

If you're using Resource Server 2.2.x, you must stop the Terminal ID service before you install this release of ID Manager, and you must not run both Resource Server and ID Manager simultaneously. |
After you install this release of HAS, you can migrate your existing UTS, T27, u3270, u5250, uVT, and ALC configurations and keyboard maps for use with this release. (If you're using HAS 2.2.02, only the keyboard maps stored on the server can be migrated; local keyboard maps cannot be migrated.)
You can also migrate your existing WebView user and group assignments, as long as the configuration and WebView used the same name, and as long as HAS Management 2.2.x and this release of HAS use the same directory service.

Configuration migration is not available for the PTR printer applet, or for the 3270, 5250, or VT viewers included with any version of Host Viewer Services. |
Many of the configuration options previously associated with WebViews (such as whether the viewer is embedded or appears in a secondary window, or which header or footer to use) are now handled by Presentation Integrator. With this application, you can also add colors and graphics to the presentations, as well as combine several configurations in a single presentation, or combine configurations with other Web pages.
If you're currently using e-Vantage Security Gateway, you cannot use that product with this release of HAS. However, MCS includes Security Services to ensure that you can continue to use secure connections. For information about this feature, refer to the Help for MCS after installation.
Once you're ready to roll out the new viewers, users will no longer access them via http://server_name/HostAccess/default.asp. The new URL is http://server_name/mcs/pbclient.
