When you install Management & Control Services (MCS) or any MCS components, you may be prompted for the following information.
If MCS is already installed on this server, you are not prompted for any additional information. |
Management & Control Services (MCS) Password
Password: Type the password for the Management & Control Services system account. This is a superuser account that allows the MCS administrator to initially access the MCS console to configure valid MCS users or groups. The system account should be used only for this purpose; all regular interactions with the MCS console should occur via an established user account.
MCS passwords are encrypted, and there is no decryption algorithm. This means that there is no way to recover a lost password. Confirm Password: Type the password for the system account again.
Port Numbers
Please indicate the TCP/IP port numbers for MCS. These port numbers must match the port(s) configured on your Web server. If they do not match, the installation will fail.
Web Server Port: Type the port number to use for accessing the MCS console. If you use a port number other than 80, you must include the port number in the URL used to start MCS. You cannot change this port number after installation.
Servlet Engine Port: Type the port number to use for communication between MCS and the Web application server. This port number is used internally and must be a free port. To change the port number after installation, you must use the tools provided by your Web application server.
Secure Port: Type the port number to use for secure (https) access to the MCS console. This port number must be included in the URL for all https connections to MCS. You can modify this value later using MCS.
MCS Local Hostname
Use Local Hostname server_name: Select this option if this server uses only one IP address.
Use Resolved IP Address address: Select this option if this server has two or more IP addresses configured on either a single network interface card (NIC) or on multiple NICs, and if the displayed address is the one used by your Web application server.
Use This Fully Qualified Domain Name Or IP Address: Select this option if this server has two or more IP addresses configured on either a single NIC or on multiple NICs, and if the displayed address in the preceding option is not the one used by your Web application server. If you select this option, you must type the IP address or domain name to use in the adjacent text box.
Web Server Port: Type the port number to use for accessing the MCS console. This port number should match the port number used by your Web application server. If you use a port number other than 80, you must include the port number in the URL used to start MCS. You cannot change this port number after installation.
MCS/CS Selection
Management & Control Server: When you are installing one MCS server, select this item.
Configuration Server: When you are creating a cluster of MCS servers, select this item. For more information about MCS server clusters, refer to the Help for MCS after installation.
MCS Discovery Agent: Design-time components need to be able to communicate with the MCS server. The Discovery Agent allows them to find the main MCS server in their network by using discovery, given a group IP address and port number. When the Discovery Agent is used, design-time components component users will not need to specify the location of the MCS server, and the location of the MCS server can be changed without affecting them.
Discovery Port: Type the port number to use for discovery.
Group IP Address: Type the group IP address to use for discovery.
