Specifying the Download Location of Sun JRE

If a presentation includes an application, and Sun Java 2 Runtime Environment (JRE) v. 1.4.0_01 is not already installed on the client, the user is prompted to install it.

By default, this software is downloaded from \mcs\components\Jplugin. However, if you want the clients to install this software from a different location (such as the java.sun.com Web site), you can use Presentation Manager to specify the download location to use.

For clients who run Microsoft Internet Explorer, the installation of Sun JRE begins automatically as soon as the user accesses the presentation, and the application runs when the installation of Sun JRE is complete. For clients who run Netscape Communicator, the user is prompted to download the executable file to a local directory, which the user must then run manually. Once the installation is complete, the user must click the presentation from the myAccess Links page to access the application.

To specify the Sun JRE download location
  1. In the MCS Selection panel, point to Products and then click Presentation Manager.
  2. The Presentation Manager tree appears.

  3. In the Presentation Manager tree, click Manage Presentations.
  4. The Manage myAccess Links page appears in the Management panel.

  5. From the Manage myAccess Links page, click Server Settings.

  6. From the Presentation Manager Server Settings dialog box, click the Sun JVM tab.

  7. From the Sun JVM page, specify the settings you want for the Sun Java Runtime Version, the URL To Internet Explorer Sun JVM Object Download, and the URL To Netscape Sun JVM Plug-in Download.

  8. Click OK.
