Assigning Users to a Presentation

To make a presentation available to users, it must be published to Management & Control Services (MCS). (For configurations, this occurs automatically when the configuration is created.) The MCS administrator must then assign users to the presentation and activate it using Presentation Manager before users can access the presentation via the myAccess Links page.

When assigning users to a presentation, assign only those users whose systems meet the system requirements for the contents of the presentation. For example, you should not assign a Solaris user to a presentation that contains an ActiveX configuration.

Note If the Authentication Type for clients is None, all users will be able to access all presentations, no matter which users or groups are assigned to the presentations.
To assign a user to a presentation
  1. In the MCS Selection panel, point to Products and then click Presentation Manager.
  2. The Presentation Manager tree appears.

  3. In the Presentation Manager tree, click Manage Presentations.
  4. The Manage myAccess Links page appears in the Management panel.

  5. Click the presentation to which you want to assign users.

  6. Click Assign Users.

  7. To assign a user or group to the presentation, from the Directory list, click the user or group that you want to assign to this presentation, and then click Add. (The other options on this dialog box -- Read, Write, and Execute -- do not apply to presentations.)

    The name of the user or group remains in the Directory list, and also appears in the Assigned list.

    Note The users and groups to whom you can assign presentations is determined by the directory service used by MCS. If the desired users and groups do not appear in this list, you might need to change your directory service.

    Information on configuring directory services is detailed in the MCS Help under "Configuring MCS, Configuring MCS Security." (To find the MCS Help, in the MCS Selection panel, point to MCS Functions and then click Help.)

  8. Click OK.

    If a user is currently viewing the myAccess Links page when you assign that user to the presentation, he or she must first refresh the page to access the presentation.
