Once you have determined how you want to assign IDs (that is, whether you assign IDs to user names, IP addresses, DNS names, or address pools), use the Assignments page to create a list of names.
You can create only one IP address, DNS name, or address pool at a time. However, you can create multiple user names simultaneously. In addition, you can assign IDs to the names as you create them, or you can create your list of names first and assign IDs to them later.
Once you assign an ID to a name, you can change its value, change its properties, or delete it at any time. (If the ID is currently allocated to a client, the changes do not take effect until the client closes and then reopens the session.)
If you're using domains, you can access user names on other trusted domains or servers only if your user name and password on the server where Management & Control Services (MCS) is installed matches a user name and password on the trusted domain or server that you want to access, or if the Guest account is enabled on that trusted domain or server.
If the clients run Netscape Communicator, do not assign IDs to DNS names. This browser does not support the use of DNS names. For custom applications developed using e-Vantage Software Development Kit (SDK) for Unisys Mainframe Customers (UMC) or Smart Connectors, you can assign IDs only to address pools. Do not assign IDs for both T27 and UTS sessions to the same name if the IDs are configured for use with e-Vantage Gateway. If you do, the T27 station IDs might be allocated to UTS sessions, and vice versa. |
