Add Name: Click this button to start the New Name Wizard. Using this wizard, you can add a new name to ID Manager's data file and assign IDs to that name.
Name Properties: Click this button to change the timeouts associated with the selected name in the Names list. If no name is selected in the Names list, or if more than one name is selected, this button appears dimmed.
Rename Name: Click this button to change the selected name in the Names list into an editable field so that you can rename it. If no name is selected in the Names list, if more than one name is selected, or if the selected name is a user name, this button appears dimmed. You can change the name of any IP address, DNS name, or address pool.
Delete Name: Click this button to delete the selected names from the Names list. This affects only the data file. Deleting a user name does not delete the user from the directory service, nor does it affect any presentation assignments. If no name is selected in the Names list, this button appears dimmed.
ID Sets: Click this button to create, edit, rename, or delete ID sets. If no name is selected in the Names list, or if more than one name is selected, this button appears dimmed.
Name display: By selecting or clearing the items in the Name Display group box, you control what items appear in the Names list. For example, if you select only Users, only user names appear in the Names list. If you select both Users and Pools, both user names and address pools appear in the Names list.
Names: This list displays the names that currently exist in the data file. If you have not yet created any names, or if all of the items in the Name Display group box are cleared, this list is blank.
The Name column displays the user name, IP address, DNS name, or address pool. For users, the Group column displays the group to which the user belongs (this column is blank for IP addresses, DNS names, or address pools). The Type column indicates the type of name (User, IP/DNS, or Address Pool).
The selections in the Name Display group box (Users, IP Addresses, and Pools) determine which type of names appear in the Names list.
Each name is preceded by an icon that indicates whether or not an ID has been assigned to that name:
This icon |
Indicates this |
---|---|
None | No ID has been assigned to this name. |
![]() |
At least one ID has been assigned to this name. |
![]() |
At least one ID has been assigned to this name, and at least one of the IDs assigned to this name has also been assigned to another name for use with the same host or UTS host application.
If this icon appears, you must either delete one of the duplicate IDs, rename it, or change the host name alias associated with the ID. |
You can sort the items in this list by clicking the column headings. For example, to sort the data alphabetically by name, click the Name column heading. Clicking the column heading again reverses the order of the sort.
To resize the columns, move the mouse pointer over the column separator, press and hold down the left mouse button, and move the pointer to the right or left.
IDs for selected_name: This list displays the IDs that have been assigned to the selected name in the Names list. The Type column indicates the type for each ID:
