For the MCS Directory, the server address is a fixed value. For the other directory services, the path can be modified by clicking Configure.
Directory type: Select the directory service you want to use to determine MCS users and groups. MCS provides support for the following directory services:
Configure: Click this button to configure the selected directory service.
Display settings
Display descriptions: Select this option to display user and group descriptions on the Directory page.

The display time may be considerably longer if you enable Display Descriptions for a large organization. If your directory service contains a large number of users, displaying descriptions may decrease MCS performance. Clear this option to hide descriptions in the member list pages. |
Save: Click this button to save the directory service configuration information.

If you change the directory service type, or configure the server address, you will lose all assignments of configurations to users and groups and all user and group permissions, including permissions to configure the server. You must restart MCS after you have saved your changes. Make sure that you assign permissions to configure the server to an administrator in the new directory service before you restart the server; otherwise, you will no longer have access to configure and manage MCS. (There is, however, a superuser, "System," with a password specified when MCS is installed. This user always has access, and can configure the server and assign permissions.) |
