Split Variable Format Data Sets

Use this procedure to split all of the variable format data sets in a data source. The variable portion will be stored in a separate secondary table and the fixed portion will be stored in the DATASETS control table in a column named rectype.

Note: This type of change should only be made before you clone the data source or after variable data sets have been added because of a DMSII reorganization.

1. In the Explorer view, right-click a data source and choose Customize Data Source.
2. In the DMSII view, right-click the data source and choose Client Configuration.
3. In the Client Configuration dialog box, on the left, click the plus sign (+) next to Customizing.
4. Select Advanced Parameters.
5. Select Split variable format data sets and click OK.
