![]() Combine DMS ItemsYou can use the Client Configurator to combine DMS items into a single column in the relational database by merging or by concatenating them. If the items exist side-by-side in the relational database, you can use the Merge option. You can use the Concatenate option for non-adjacent items if both items are of the same type (numeric or alpha). Caution: Make this type of change only before cloning the data source. Otherwise, you may need to reclone. To concatenate items
After you customize a data source, the Client Console will notify you that you must generate scripts. See Define/Redefine and Generate Scripts. To merge items Caution: Merging items can cause problems if a DMSII reorganization relocates one of the merged items. When possible, concatenate items instead. This option is included primarily for compatibility with older systems and as a method for combining three items (when used in conjunction with concatenation).
