Set Up Service Log Files

Use this procedure to specify when a new log file will be created for the service. You can also manually start a new log file at any time.

The service log includes all service-related activity for the system and is located in the logs subdirectory of the working directory.

To set up log files

  1. In the Explorer view, right-click the data source and choose Client Configuration.
  2. In the Client Configuration dialog box, in the left pane, expand Logging/Tracing.
  3. Below Logging/Tracing, select Service Log and select the settings you want. If you have multiple systems with services, specify a prefix to identify system-specific log files that would otherwise have the same name.
  4. Click OK.

To manually start a new log file

  • In the Explorer view, right-click the service and choose Switch Service Log.
