Verastream SDK for Airlines
The Presentation Space

Each host session with which your application can interact is configured to use a specific number of columns and rows that define the area within which the host or user can display or type data. For Micro Focus Verastream SDK for Unisys and Airlines methods, this area (as shown below) is called the presentation space:

The basic configuration of each terminal model.

The presentation space is an area in PC memory where screen data are stored, and through which an automation application and the host communicate. Each running session has a presentation space. Its contents are read, changed, or monitored with the Screen object.

Many Screen object methods interact with the presentation space. For example, your application can perform the following tasks:

  • Search the presentation space for certain strings to determine which host application screen is displayed.

  • Position the cursor within the presentation space and send keystrokes to navigate among host application screens or to retrieve data.

  • Copy data from the presentation space and display them in your application.

Note The status line that appears at the bottom of the screen (also known as the operator information area, or OIA) is not included in the presentation space. There are separate functions for accessing the presentation space and the OIA.

The following topics discuss additional characteristics of a presentation space:

  • Presentation Space Positions discusses how the terminal model being emulated relates to the size of the session's presentation space.

  • Presentation Space Formats describes how to work with unformatted and formatted presentation spaces. A formatted presentation space includes fields and attributes.
