The Administrative WebStation Log Viewer is a tool for viewing messages contained in the Host Integrator logs.
Note: In addition to the Administrative WebStation logging facilities, other log utilities, Host Integrator Log Viewer and the Host Integrator Log Export utility, are available.
To display the Host Integrator log for a Host Integrator Server, select the server of interest in the navigation tree and click the View Log button above the Administrative WebStation navigation tree. To view the AADS directory log or authentication log, select the desired log under the Directory Services item in the navigation tree, then click the View Log button above the navigation tree. In either case, the Log Viewer opens with the Options panel displayed. Use the Options panel to specify the filter criteria for the records you wish to view, and click View at the bottom of the panel to display the results of your query.
Log messages are shown in reverse order, that is from most recent at the top of the log to the oldest messages at the bottom.
Click one of the following for more information:
The View From options specify the starting selection for the records that are displayed. When the First Record option is selected, the Start Date and Start Time options are ignored and the displayed list begins with the oldest available record. Select the This Date and Time: option to see records that occurred after the date and time specified in the Start Date and Start Time boxes. The format for Start Date is Month/day/year. The format for Start Time is Hours:minutes:seconds<AM|PM>. If a start date is specified but no start time is specified, the displayed list begins at 12:00:00 AM of the start day.
The View To options specify the ending date of the records that are displayed. When the Last Record option is selected, the Stop Date and Stop Time options are ignored and the displayed list ends with the most recent available record. Select the This Date and Time: option to see records that occurred before the date and time specified in the Stop Date and Stop Time boxes. The format for the Stop Date is Month/day/year. The format for Stop Time is hours:minutes:seconds<AM|PM>. If a stop date is specified but no stop time is specified, the displayed list ends at 11:59:59 PM of the stop day.
When the First Record and Last Record options are selected, all log records are displayed, up to a maximum of the first 1000 records. To view records prior the 1000 records that are displayed, specify a stop date and time that is before the 1000th record.
You can filter the log to display any combination of error messages, warnings, and informational messages. Select the check box for each message type you want to be displayed.
The options in the remainder of the panel allow you to configure the Log Viewer to display log records that contain only specific text. For example, you can specify that only messages with message ID 43 are displayed.
To use a filter, select its check box and type the filtering criteria in the adjacent box. Clearing a filter's check box disables the filter; you do not need to also delete the criteria. When you enter multiple criteria, Host Integrator performs an OR operation. For example, entering 1,2 will display all records that contain either a 1 or a 2. Separate multiple criteria with commas.
The Message ID is the value associated with this particular message.
The Session ID is the number assigned at run time to the session. The first byte in the number represents the processor; servers that contain multiple processors may have large values for the Session ID.
The Client IP Address is the IP address of the user who connects to the Host Integrator Server.
The User Name is name of the person who connects to the Host Integrator Server.
When connecting to the Host Integrator Server, a session will use either a Session Pool or a specific model, but not both.
The Request ID is assigned at run time for each unique request.
Records Per Page configures the number of records that will be displayed on
each page of the results after you click the View button.
To clear the log, click the Clear button. All the log messages currently in the log will be deleted. Note: The Clear button is not visible if security is enabled and the current user is not in the Administrator profile.
