Working with Host Integrator Domains

Host Integrator Domain Servers provide load balancing and failover support for multiple Host Integrator Servers. When a client application sends a request to a data object to connect to a model by means of a Host Integrator Domain, the data object follows this procedure to execute the request:

• The data object sends a request to Directory Services for the current primary domain server.
  
  
• The data object then connects to the primary domain server and requests the session.
  
  
• If the session request fails, the data object notifies Directory Services and requests a backup domain server. It then repeats the request to the backup domain server.

About Primary Domain Servers and Failover Support

The primary domain server is the first active Server in the domain server list. When you create domain server lists, you should add Servers to the domain in the order you want them to be used as backup servers for the primary domain server; these backup Servers provide failover support.
