Host Emulator is a browser-based tool that allows you to run and test 3270
and 5250 models created with the Design Tool without having a live connection
to a host. To simulate this live connection, the Host Emulator opens the "master"
model component, such as CCSDemoMaster,
of the host application model while the corresponding "normal" model, or CCSDemo,
is loaded in the Design Tool or Host Integrator Server. For more information
about viewing and creating your own master
models, see the Host Emulator Reference. To view examples of both types
of models, see the example models installed
folders beneath your
\<VHI install directory>\models folder.
The Host Emulator is started by default. If it has been stopped, click Start > Programs > Attachmate Verastream > Host Integrator > Services > Host Emulator > Start Host Emulator.
Note: Use Host Emulator with version 6.0 models only.
To configure Host Emulator:
The Host Emulator will be referred to as "localhost" throughout the modeling process.
Before you create a model, follow these steps:
On the Connection menu, point to Host Emulator Recording, and select Enable. This allows you to record screen traces as you create your model.
Tip: To synchronize a trace or if data changes and your Host Emulator trace is inaccurate, point to Host Emulator Recording on the Connection menu and select Overwrite Traces. Then, use the Entity window to navigate to the entity and select the operation in question from the Name box on the Operation tab. Click the Execute button to update the trace. Make sure to disable Overwrite Traces after you've updated the trace.
