Using the API Log View

When you execute an API, through either live interaction (recording) or testing (executing already recorded or inserted API calls), the results are displayed in the API Log view. The API Log view is associated with the Parameter Values view, which displays values associated with API calls selected in the API Log view.

You can double-click an entry in the log to open the API Log Detail window, which provides a full description of the selected entry, including all parameter values. You can copy the text in this window to the clipboard. The API Log Detail window also displays any exception traces.

Toolbar Button Features

The API Log view includes a toolbar with several features in addition to the standard Eclipse Maximize and Restore features.

• Show Internal API Calls. Internal API calls are used by the designer to display the correct information in the Live Interaction view. You can use this information for troubleshooting (for example, you might send the log file in an e-mail to tech support), but it won't be in your generated code, and won't be needed in regular testing. The API Log view hides the internal calls by default, although you can choose the Show Internal API Calls toolbar button to show them.
• Save Log. You can save the contents of the log to a text file using the Save Log button. The saved file includes the internal API calls only if they are currently shown in the log, and also includes any exception traces.
• Clear Log. You can clear the contents of the log by clicking, from the API Log view, the Clear Log toolbar button.
