Configuring IDs

CICS Terminal IDs provide unique connection data for a session with a host.

You can create new IDs when you create your pools or, later, as a separate step. You can also import IDs that you've already created.

To create a new ID in an existing pool
  1. In the MCS left pane under Services, choose ID Management.

  2. Under ID Management, choose Configure IDs.

  3. In the MCS right pane, select an existing pool from the tree, right-click to display the shortcut menu, and then choose New ID.

    -or-

    From the toolbar, choose .

When you choose New ID, a series of pages guides you through selecting options for your ID.

  4. In the New ID page, enter the following values:
    Field Value
    Host Name leave blank
    Host Type 3270
    ID Type Terminal

If you select Range or Advanced Generation, you can automatically generate a range of IDs based on the information you specify. Under Range, you can pad the start value by prefixing additional zeros, for example, you could start with 01.

Note The ID name cannot include spaces or commas and must be a maximum of four characters in length (4 bytes).

If you specify a range, the numbers in the range are appended to the ID name you specify, so they must be considered in the length restriction. For example, if you specify a Start Value of 00 and a Number to Generate of 99, the ID name must be two or fewer characters so that the result is a maximum of four characters per ID.

The remaining pages in this series depend on your selections in the New ID page. To get help on any page in the series, choose the Help button in the displayed page.
