The Directory page lists all of the users, groups, and virtual groups that are defined in the selected directory.
To display the Directory page, in the left pane of the MCS window under Services, choose Security. In the Security tree under Directory Services, click Directory.
|If you use NTDS as your directory service, you can use an option in mcs.properties to change the interval at which directory information is refreshed.
NTDSHlpRefreshMinutes. The length of time, in minutes, to wait before refreshing user, group, and domain information from the directory service. The value is 12 if not otherwise specified.
|New User (MCS Directory only): Display the New User dialog box, in which you can add a user to the MCS directory.|
|New Group (MCS Directory only): Display the New Group dialog box, in which you can add a group to the MCS directory.|
|New Virtual Group: Display the New Virtual Group dialog box, in which you can add virtual groups. Virtual groups can be used to organize users in your directory service to simplify assigning access rights. They exist only within MCS.|
|Delete: Remove the selected item from the directory.|
Directory tree: Displays users and groups in the configured directory service.
The following users are always included by default:
For MCS-compatible products, the rights you assign to <anonymous> determine the default rights that are used when rights are assigned for that product using the <Anonymous> account.
Virtual Groups: Displays existing virtual groups.
The MCS System Administrators virtual group is created when you install MCS. If you upgrade from a version earlier than MCS version 2.2, this group automatically includes all users who had been given access to the MCS console in the previous version. All users in the MCS System Administrators virtual group have rights to all use MCS services within the MCS console.
Show Users: When selected, show both users and groups in the directory list. When cleared, show only groups.
Attributes: Displays attributes of the selected user or group in the directory list.
Members: Displays a list of members for the group selected in the directory list. This tab is unavailable if a user is selected in the directory list.
Member Of: Displays a list of groups to which the user or group selected in the directory list belongs.
