SNA Gateway Configuration: New Port Dialog Box

Use the New Port dialog box to supply the information needed to configure a new port for your SNA Gateway system. The port provides an access point (for example, a logical unit) for data entry or exit.

All of the new port's configuration parameters are required and must contain a valid value.

Port ID:  Enter a unique logical name for the port. The name can be up to eight characters in length.

Adapter:  An adapter is a hardware device used to connect two unlike components. Enter the adapter number of the Data Link Control (DLC) card for the port. Type 0 to automatically select the first available DLC adapter. The default is 0. Synapta Services Builder for CICS supports the DLC (802.2) adapter.

SAP:  Service Access Point (SAP). Specify the SAP on the network interface card (NIC). For each adapter, a unique SAP is required for each host link that connects to the same partner address. Hexadecimal notation is assumed whether or not the "0x" prefix is included. SAPs are used to establish multiple connections over a single adapter. A value of 4 typically indicates an IBM SNA network under the IEEE802.2 standard. Set to 4 unless you want to override this.

Receive Window Size:  Enter the maximum number of information frames that can be received before an acknowledgement must be returned to the host. An information frame is a packet containing the data which is being transferred between your system and the host. Use the value of the Primary RU in the LOGMODE entry from your VTAM definitions. The limit for this value is 127. If the value is 0, the default setting of 2 is used.

Send Window Size:  Enter the maximum number of information frames that can be sent by the server before an acknowledgement must be received from the host. Use the value of the Primary RU in the LOGMODE entry from your VTAM definitions. The limit for this value is 127. If the value is 0, the default setting of 2 is used.

Maximum IFrame Size:  Enter the maximum size of a single data information frame (for the connection between the adapter and the host) in bytes. Use the value of MAXDATA from your VTAM definition.
