The Add or Edit Application Server page is used to add or edit an application server. From this page you enter the machine name, application server type, instance or domain name, and the administrative port number.

All of these settings were determined by the application server administrator when the application server was set up. Modifying these settings here will not modify the application server configuration. |
Application server type: From the drop down list select the application server you want to deploy the EJBs to. An EJB JAR file is packaged, along with a connector RAR file and deployed. You cannot register an application server without entering the application server type. Synapta Services Builder products support the following application server types:

You cannot register both SunOne and WebLogic 8.1 application servers on the same machine. See Session EJB Errors for more information on possible errors and their solutions. |
To deploy EJBs to WebSphere or Oracle you must manually download the files and then copy it to the WebSphere or Oracle application server. When deploying to Oracle, the EJB JAR and connector RAR files are bundled together as an EAR file. See Choose Deploy Download Options for more information.
Server Instance/Domain name: This is the instance or domain name used by the application server. Instance or domains are segments designated on the application server and are named by the administrator.
When an instance or domain name changes, you must re-deploy any EJBs that were packaged using the original instance or domain name. The most efficient means of implementing a new instance or domain name is to re-register the application server using the new instance or domain name, and then to delete the obsolete registration.
Admin port: The port number used by the application server. This is determined by the system administrator, however, every application server has a default port setting.
Application server type Default port number Instance / Domain name Username / Password BEA WebLogic 7001 domain name admin IBM WebSphere not applicable not applicable not applicable Oracle not applicable not applicable not applicable SunOne 4848 server instance name admin
Admin name: Administrative name assigned by the system administrator when the application server is configured and are used when deploying an application.
Admin password: Administrative password assigned by the system administrator when the application server is configured. The password is encrypted, but does not use SSL security. To run in a secure environment, MCS should be running through a secure port. Security Services for MCS provides a secure port that implements Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) 3.0 and Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.0 support. For more information on running MCS through a secure port see Overview of Security Services in the MCS online help.

When any registered application server information changes the new values are used the next time you package an EJB or deploy applications. |
