You can configure a task failover and load-balancing environment to safeguard important task operations from server downtime and to more evenly distribute the workload across the network.

Note Only stateless task failover is supported. In a stateless environment, a single task runs to completion before another task is started. Tasks that are linked to other tasks in your project are not maintained in a failover situation. You can, however, specify a login task when you configure session pools.


Using MCS, you will configure your task to run on an ordered list of registered run-time servers so that if one server fails, the task will get the next server from the list, and run there. Optionally, you can choose to balance the workload among these servers, too.

First, set up an agent cluster in MCS. Then, associate your task with the agent cluster that contains the client computers to which the task has been deployed, and create the failover and load-balancing list by adding run-time servers from the registered run-time server list.

Before You Start

This How-To assumes that you have created and published a Synapta Services Builder for Screens task and built a client application that calls the task. You must have at least one instance of Runtime Service for Screens installed and added to MCS. Additionally, you must have copied your task files to a place where your client application can access them.


Following are the main steps you need to complete for this How-To:

  1. Create an agent cluster.

  2. Register run-time servers.

  3. Configure tasks to run on a list of registered servers.
