Import Task: Select Source Project

Selecting the source project, containing the task that you want to import, is the first step in the Task Import wizard.

The project you will import the task into is the destination project. When you are working in Task Builder, the open project is always the destination project. If you are using the wizard independent of Task Builder, you can select the destination project on the Select Destination Project page of the wizard.

To display the Select Source Project page of the Task Import wizard, from the File menu, choose Import Tasks.

Location of Projects:   Type or browse to the location of the project you want to import. The default location is <install_dir>/Attachmate/EAI/recordings, which is the location where project files are stored in a standard installation.

Projects:  The list of all projects contained in the selected directory. From the list, select the project that contains the task you want to import.

Information, Warnings, and Errors

In the left pane of the wizard, different types of messages may occur when the panel is being used. There are a few things to keep in mind when you select a project to import from:

• You must specify a valid directory, one that not only exists, but is readable by the Task Import wizard.

• NavMaps must also be valid and readable by the Task Import wizard. If they are not, you may see an Error opening project alert.

• You can only import tasks created using the same host type. For example, you cannot import a task recorded on a 3270 host into a project created with a 5250 host. These host types are incompatible.

• To import a task into another project, the destination and source projects must have been saved in the same version of Task Builder for Screens. For example, a task from a project saved in Smart Connector for 3270 & 5250 v 2.1 cannot be imported into a project saved in version 3.0. You can open a 2.1 task, save it in 3.0, and then successfully import it into your destination project.

• You must first select a project to import from before you can continue.
