Global Screen Message Boxes

Each of the three message boxes below help guide you through the creation of global screen handlers. You will see them during the creation, recording, and testing process.

Global Screen Name:  The name of the global screen that will be used in the Global Screens list. Type the desired name of the global screen and choose OK.

Recording Global Screen:  An existing global screen is recognized while recording a task. You are prompted to use the handler you have already created or to continue recording.

Yes Choose Yes to use the global screen handler to dismiss the global screen and continue recording the task. The global screen is not recorded as a task step.
No Choose No to continue in record mode. The screen is recorded as a task step. If you chose No because:
  • Although the screen is a global screen, it is not the global screen previously encountered, then continue in record mode to mark and name the new global screen.

  • The screen is not a global screen, but due to the screen's similarity with another screen, it is being recognized as a previously encountered global screen, then continue recording and modify both screen's recognition rules to help distinguish them from one another.
Warning! When screens are similar, they can easily be confused with each other. It is very important to modify each screen's recognition rule to ensure that it can be distinguished from other screens. See Modifying Screen Recognition Rules for information on editing screen recognition rules.

Testing Global Screen:  An existing global screen is encountered when testing the task. You are prompted to use the global screen handler you have already created to dismiss the global screen or to return to record mode.
