Logon Dialog Box

Use the Logon dialog box to set up a pool of user names and passwords that can be used by each session. The options on this dialog box vary depending on your selection under Logon Type. If you need a range of user names or passwords, you can set options to automatically generate them based on a specified pattern.

The options you should select also depend on your selection under Login Task in the NavMap configuration page.

To display the Logon dialog box, in the left pane of the MCS window, under Servers, select a server and choose Configure. On the Pools page, select a pool and choose Logon. This dialog box is also displayed as part of the process when you create a new pool.

Note To change most configuration options, you must stop the pool in order for the options to be available. To stop a pool, choose Monitor in the left pane of the MCS window, and then choose the Pools page. Select the pool you want to edit, and then choose Change State.

Logon type: There are four logon types available:

None: When you select None, there are no other options to specify.

Single user: Every session uses the same user name and password.

Range of users with single password: Multiple user names available for use; all use the same password.

Range of users with range of passwords: Multiple usernames associated with multiple passwords, unique to each session use.

Single user: Every session uses the same user name and password.

Username: Type the user name that will be used by all sessions.

Password: Type the password that will be used by all sessions.

Confirm password: Retype the password to confirm its accuracy.

Range of users with single password: Multiple user names available for use; all use the same password. Generated user names contain three parts: Prefix, generated field, and suffix. You can specify the contents of all three parts.

Iterations: Set the number of user names available for the pool.

Numeric generation: Select this option if you want the generated field to be numeric. For example, ab50u, ab51u, ab52u, and so forth.

Clear this option to generate non-numeric or string values.

The following non-numeric values are supported and are generated in the order listed:

User prefix: The prefix used with all generated user names. For example, using a prefix "ab", user names might be ab50u, ab51u, ab52u, and so forth.

Field length: Specify the number of characters in the generated field. When using non-numeric values, the length of the starting string must match this length. For example, abc needs a field length of 3.

Starting value: Specify the starting value for a numeric or non-numeric generated fields.

For example:

User suffix: The suffix used with all generated user names. In the example above, "u", which stands for user, is the suffix.

Password: Type the password that will be used by all sessions.

Confirm password: Retype the password to confirm its accuracy.

Range of users with range of passwords: Multiple user names associated with multiple passwords.

To configure a range of users with a range of passwords, the options for both Username and Password work as described for generating a range of user names for a range of users with a single password.

Note When a session is created, it uses the pool of user names and passwords configured by the system administrator to log into the host. If you want to be able to pass in your own user names and passwords through a task when it runs, you can create a pool that does not use preconfigured user names or passwords.
