Edit Header/Footer Dialog Box

The options available from this dialog box vary depending on whether you choose Select External Header/Footer or Design New Header/Footer.

Select External Header/Footer: Click this item to display the options for selecting an external header or footer for the presentation.

Design New Header/Footer: Click this item to display the options for specifying the color, text, and image to display in the header or footer of the presentation.

If you chose Select External Header/Footer, the following options are available:

Select Header/Footer: Click the name of the external header or footer to use. To use no external header or footer, click None.

If the desired header or footer does not appear in this list, click Add, and then complete the Add Header and Footer dialog box. When you click OK on the Add Header and Footer dialog box, the external header or footer is published to Management & Control Services (MCS), and the name of the header or footer appears in the Select Header/Footer list.

Add: Click this button to display the Add Header and Footer dialog box. Using this dialog box, you can publish an external header or footer to MCS, which will then appear in the Select Header/Footer list.

Note Since the path to the file is not retained when the file is published to MCS, each file name must be unique.

If you chose Design New Header/Footer, the following options are available:

Alignment And Color

Align: Click the option that indicates how to position any text or image within the header or footer.

Background Color: This area displays the color that will be used in the background of the header or footer. If no background color is selected, the background color of the presentation is also used in the header or footer. To use a different color, click Select and then complete the Choose a Color dialog box.

Select: Click this button to display the Choose a Color dialog box. Using this dialog box, you can specify a background color using either a color palette, an HSB definition, or an RGB definition. (Browser-safe colors have RGB values of 0, 51, 102, 153, 204, or 255.)

Text Properties

Font: Click the font to use for the text in the header or footer.

Foreground Color: This area displays the color that will be used for the text. To use a different color, click Select and complete the Choose a Color dialog box.

Select: Click this button to display the Choose a Color dialog box. Using this dialog box, you can specify a foreground color using either a color palette, an HSB definition, or an RGB definition. (Browser-safe colors have RGB values of 0, 51, 102, 153, 204, or 255.)

Note The specified text and foreground color appear in the Design View, but the font, font size, and font attributes do not change in the Design View. Be sure to check these attributes in the presentation itself.

Graphic Properties

Image: Click the image that you want to display in the header or footer. To use no image, click None. Images in headers and footers appear only once (they are not tiled).

If the desired image does not appear in this list, click Add, type the name of the GIF or JPEG file (including the path) in the Image File box (or click Browse to select the file), and then click OK. The image is published to Management & Control Services (MCS), and the file name appears in the Image list.

Add: Click this button to display the Add Image dialog box. Using this dialog box, you can specify the location and name of a GIF or JPEG file, and publish that image to MCS. The file name then appears in Image list on the Edit Header/Footer dialog box.

Note Since the path to the file is not retained when the file is published to MCS, each file name must be unique.

Text Left Of Graphic: Click this button to display any text to the left of any image that is included in the header or footer.

Text Right Of Graphic: Click this button to display any text to the right of any image that is included in the header or footer.

Note When you add an image to a header or footer, the image name appears in the Design View. However, if you include text as well, the image name appears on a separate line rather than next to the text. Be sure to check the header or footer in the presentation itself to ensure that it renders in the desired location.
