From the Theme editor you can view and modify the properties of the selected theme, and create, modify, and manage rules, including the order of precedence.

You cannot modify a theme provided with the product. Instead, make a copy of the "provided" theme that you want to modify, and from the Theme editor, save it under a different name, then make your modifications to the copy. |
Theme Name: Type a new name for the theme.

Theme names must consist of valid characters: A to Z, a to z, 0 to 9, _ (underscore character), and - (hyphen). |
Description: Type a description for this theme (optional).
Theme Properties: A two-column list that shows the names and the current settings for the theme properties. To change a setting, double-click the Value column opposite the property in the Name column. For many properties, you would then just enter a new value. For others, when you double-click the corresponding value, a property editor dialog box or list displays, from which you can select or edit the settings.

Default Font Double-click to change the default font for your project from the Font Selection dialog box. Default Color Double-click to change the default background color for your project from the Color Chooser. Foreground Color Mapping Double-click to open the Color Mapping editor, from which you can select the conversion color for the foreground host color to application color.
This applies to the default font color, but is superceded by rules for specific controls and changes made in the Presentation Designer. Background Color Mapping Double-click to open the Color Mapping editor, from which you can select the conversion color for the background host color to application color for controls. Extended Foreground Color Mapping Double-click to open the Color Mapping editor, from which you can select the conversion color for fields based on their protection and intensity levels. Extended Background Color Mapping Double-click to open the Color Mapping editor, from which you can select the conversion color for fields based on their protection and intensity levels. Look & Feel Select the standard look-and-feel that you want for your project: Java, System, Windows, Motif (Unix), or Mac OS. Background Image Double-click to open the Select Background Image dialog box, from which you can select the background image that you want for your application.
Rules For Generating Controls: A two-column list that shows the names and descriptions (if available) for the Rules For Generating Controls, listed by ascending order of precedence.
Up: Moves the selected rule up one level in Order of Precedence. Unavailable (dimmed) if the selected rule is on the top.
Down: Moves the selected rule down one level in Order of Precedence. Unavailable (dimmed) if the selected rule is on the bottom.
New: Opens the Rule editor, from which you can specify settings for a new rule.
Copy: Duplicates the currently selected rule. The resulting copy will be named "Copy of Original_Rule_Name."
Modify: Opens the Rule editor, from which you can modify the selected rule.
The Modify button is unavailable unless you have selected a rule. Delete: Deletes the selected rule.
