Screen recognition rules identify active host screens at runtime; completion rules determine when the host has completed updating the screen. When you customize a form at design time, default screen recognition and completion rules are automatically generated.
There may be situations when a default rule needs to be changed (for example, the default completion rule causes the application to appear slow, or the form appears incomplete). Use the Recognition Rule Editor - Completion Rule page to optimize the performance of your application. Because of differences in host screens, various completion rule methods are provided to ensure the most prompt recognition of a fully downloaded screen.

The settings you make from the Screen Recognition Rule Editor - Completion Rule page affect only the currently selected host screen. |
Select Rule Type list: Provides selections for the completion rule type from which you can choose.
This rule type Does this Default Instructs the application to use the time-out settings on the Completion Rule - Default page, which apply to the entire application. Host Quiet Determines a fully downloaded screen by monitoring the absence of transmissions from the host based upon the time interval indicated in Quiet Time. Recognition Uses the screen recognition rule to determine the completion of the screen. The length of time the application waits before timing out is based upon the time interval indicated in Max Quiet Time.
- You must first have captured a screen before you can create the recognition rule. Once you have done so, you can configure and use the recognition completion rule.
- A performance penalty may result unless the recognition completion rule is properly configured.
Description: Displays a description of, or pertinent information about, the selected rule type.
Quiet Time: If you selected the Host Quiet rule, type a maximum wait time for the host screen to be identified. (Default value: 1500 milliseconds.)
Recognition Rule: If you selected the Recognition rule, provides information about how to modify it (from the Recognition Rule page of the Screen Recognition Rule editor).
Max Quiet Time: If you selected the Recognition rule, type a maximum wait time for the host screen to be identified. (Default value: 5000 milliseconds.)
