Creating and Editing User Fields

Host screens contain pre-defined host fields that you can use in Screen Recognition Rules and events. If the host fields are not exactly what you need, you can create custom user fields.

To view host fields
  1. Open an existing project.

  2. In the Editor pane, select the Customize tab.

  3. In the Project pane, right-click the active form, then choose Define/Edit UserField.

    The Define/Edit UserFields dialog box appears.

  4. Open the Host Fields tree in the tree pane.

To create a user field
  1. Create a new project or open an existing project.

  2. In the Editor pane, select the Customize tab.

  3. In the Project pane, right-click the active form, then choose Define/Edit UserField.

    The Define/Edit UserFields dialog box appears.

  4. In the Screen View pane, use your mouse to draw a rectangle around the area that you want to define as a user field.

    When finished, the user field is outlined in red.

    Note If you want to change the size of the selected area, you can either delete the user field and begin again, or adjust the Start Row, End Row, Start Column, and End Column values under Field Properties.
  5. Use your mouse to outline the next area you want to define as a user field.

    You will only see the outline of the currently selected user field.

  6. When you have finished defining user fields, click OK.

To edit a user field
  1. Open an existing project.

  2. In the Editor pane, select the Customize tab.

  3. In the Project pane, right-click the active form, then choose Define/Edit UserField.

    The Define/Edit UserFields dialog box appears.

  4. Open the User Fields tree in the tree pane.

  5. Select the user field you want to edit.

    In the Screen View, the selected user field is outlined in red.

  6. Change the properties of the user field as required.

  7. When you have finished defining user fields, click OK.

To delete a user field
  1. Open an existing project.

  2. In the Editor pane, select the Customize tab.

  3. In the Project pane, right-click the active form, then choose Define/Edit UserField.

    The Define/Edit UserFields dialog box appears.

  4. Open the User Fields tree in the tree pane.

  5. Select the user field you want to delete.

    In the Screen View, the selected user field is outlined in red.

  6. Click the Delete button.

  7. When you have finished deleting user fields, click OK.
