Overview: Translation Tables

Translation tables modify the data sent between the host and the client to ensure that the client can display characters that are not part of the U.S. English character set. For your convenience, Presentation Builder includes several predefined translation tables. The name of each table indicates the language with which it is intended to be used.

Most of the included translation tables convert certain 7-bit characters into 8-bit characters when receiving data from the host, and convert certain 8-bit characters to 7-bit characters when transmitting data to the host. You can use these tables exactly as they are, modify them to suit your needs, or create your own translation tables. If your host uses a code page other than 437 or if your computer uses a keyboard layout other than English (United States), to ensure that characters display properly, you might need to modify a translation table or create your own.

The included translation tables do not, by default, support the euro (€) symbol. If you require euro symbol support, edit a predefined translation table, or use one of the included translation tables that supports only the euro character.
