Skipping Host Screens

Host screens cannot really transition from one to another instantly unless they are designed to do so. The Skip Screens function does not reroute host navigation; instead it moves to one screen, then automatically inputs the commands to move to the next without displaying the intermediate host screen. This action can be performed consecutively to skip multiple screens, hiding from the user all but the start and end screens.

Skipped screen sequences include a start screen (with a button or list control that users use to trigger the sequence), an end screen, one or more intermediate (skipped) screens, and the path in between each screen. The path consists of the input data, cursor positions, and commands that were used as you recorded these screens in Interact mode.

To create a skipped screen sequence
  1. Open your project in Presentation Designer, select a form, and click the Customize tab.

  2. Right-click on a button or list control, then under Skip Screens, choose New.

The Skip Screens editor appears. The current form is defined as the start screen for your sequence.

  3. Select a screen to skip, then click the Skip Screen button.
    If you selected
    Do this
A screen with an existing, recorded path from the start screen The screen will appear under the Skipped Screens folder in the Skipped Screen Sequence box on the right side of the editor.
A screen with no recorded path from the start screen The Transition editor appears, showing the start screen. Select the cursor position and AID key to get from the start screen to the screen you want to skip. If just an AID key won't suffice because the path's input data needs to be changed, click OK, and continue the procedure. Later you will need to convert the sequence to an event, and change the input data with the Event editor.
  4. Repeat step three until you have selected all the screens to skip.

  5. Select the end screen.

No changes can be made to the Skipped Screens Sequence list after the end screen is selected. To add or remove screens from the Skipped Screens list, use the Remove Last button to remove the end screen. Add the end screen again after your skip screen changes are completed.

    If
    Do this
The recorded paths, or the paths specified in the Transition editor, are correct Click Finish to close the Skip Screens editor.
The input data used in the recorded paths need to be changed Click Convert to Event. This will open the Event editor, with an event built consisting of a Sendkey action for each screen skipped. Using the event editor, you can modify input, and add other actions to the event as well.
