Using Cut, Copy, Paste with Forms

You can select one or more controls on a form and cut or copy, then paste them to the same form in a different location, or to a different form.

This feature can be a great time-saver. If you have added controls to a form and set the properties you want, you can then copy (or cut) and paste them wherever you want to use them. If you change your mind about the design and want to remove some elements, you can select and cut them all at once.

To cut or copy elements or controls
  1. Select the elements and/or controls you want to cut or copy.

  2. From the Edit menu, choose Cut or Copy.

The selected items are removed from the form and added to the clipboard.

To paste an element or control
  1. Open the form on which you want to paste the items.

  2. From the Edit menu, choose Paste.

The items from the clipboard are added to the form at the exact location from which they were copied or cut.

If the control is bound or associated with an event, it will be reset to the default when it is cut or copied, then pasted. In other words, the control will no longer be associated with an event or binding.

To move pasted controls
Items that are added to a form from the clipboard are positioned at the exact location from which they were copied or cut.
