Adding Services Builder Tasks to Events

Using the Task Builder component of a Synapta Services Builder, you can build host access tasks and publish them to MCS. In Presentation Designer, you can add these tasks to an event in your application just as you would a Web service.

Note When you are creating your task in Task Builder, make sure you provide a package name — Presentation Builder requires that the task be in a package.
To add a Services Builder task to an event
  1. Create an event, and add a Services Builder Task action to it.

You may need to choose the Services button from the Actions list to access the Services Builder Task action.

  2. (Optional) From the Services Builder Task Properties pane, customize the Step Reference ID.

These IDs can be especially helpful if you are using multiple Services Builder Task actions.

  3. Under Services Builder Task Properties, click Browse to open the task.

The Select Service Method dialog box appears.

  4. Under Services, select the task that you want to access from the current event, then under Methods, select the method that you want to access from the current event, then click OK.

  5. From the Event editor, click the Assign Method Inputs button.

The Assign Method Inputs dialog box appears, showing the eligible data on the left, and the available inputs on the right.

  6. Map a data element from your application into an input from the task method, and then click the Add Mapping button.

Create a constant (right-click an operation input and choose Map Constant), and type any value to map to the input.

    • The eligible data will consist of two client run-time environment variables (IPAddress and UserName), all of the controls on the current form, and any previously defined global variables. The results of other mappings may also be available.

    • The available inputs depend on the task method. You can select an input and click the Properties button at the bottom of the window to learn more about it.
  7. From the Event editor, click OK.
