General Tab (Site Properties Dialog Box)

Use this tab to provide connection information for the specified site. The options are:

FTP address

Type the FTP or SFTP server to log on to. This can be a domain name, a URL, or an IP address.

Server type

In most cases, FTP Client will correctly identify your server when this value is set to Auto detect. If FTP Clientis not successfully identifying the type of server you are connecting to, select it from this list.

Auto detect is not available for SFTP sessions. The default for these sessions is UNIX.

Log on as

	Anonymous	Log on to the FTP server as a guest, with the user name anonymous. (Anonymous logons are not allowed for SFTP connections.) If you log on to this server anonymously, the Password box is automatically filled in with the anonymous password specified on the General tab in the Options dialog box. If this FTP site expects a different password for anonymous users, type the site-specific password here.
	User	Log on to the specified server using a registered user name.
	User name	Type your user name as it is registered on the FTP server.
	Save password	Save your password in encrypted form in your settings file and use it to log on to this server. This option is not available for SFTP connections. Use the Secure Shell Settings dialog box to configure authentication for these connections.
	Password	Type the password the FTP server associates with the user name.
	Security	Configure a secure connection to the specified server.
