Install the API

You can install the Reflection 2008 .NET Application Programmer Interface (API) with Reflection 2008, or you can install it separately. Both options install the API class library assembly files and the API documentation. You can also access the .NET API Help from within the Visual Studio Help.

You can successfully install and run Reflection 2008 and the API on a 64-bit operating system. However, because Reflection 2008 is a 32-bit application, the API supports only 32-bit custom applications.

To install the API with Reflection 2008

Note: To make sure that the API class library assembly files are integrated with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, confirm that Visual Studio is installed before you install the Reflection 2008 .NET API.

  1. Run the Reflection 2008 installer.
  2. On the Feature Selection tab, expand Reflection Workspace, and then expand Emulation.
  3. Click the down arrow to the left of Application Programmer Interface and select the following:

    Install: feature selected Feature will be installed on local hard drive

  4. Click Continue, and then complete the installation.

    When you start Reflection 2008, the Help menu includes options for .NET API Guide and the .NET API Help.

To install the API separately

  1. On the root of the Reflection 2008 installation files, locate and open the Programmer folder.
  2. Double-click the Setup.exe file, and follow the on-screen instructions to install the API in the default location.
