Adding an Agent Cluster

Management & Control Services (MCS) allows you to create clusters of computers on which MCS agents have been installed.

When an agent computer registers itself with Management & Control Services (MCS), that computer initially appears in the default cluster on the Agent Cluster Management page. You can create additional agent clusters, and assign individual agent computers to them. You can also use the toolbar buttons on the Agent Cluster Management page to manage agents and agent clusters.

To create an agent cluster
  1. In the MCS left pane, point to Services and then click Server Management.

  2. Under Server Management, click Agent Clusters. This section of the tree appears only if at least one agent computer has registered itself with MCS.

The Agent Cluster Management page appears in the MCS right pane.

For details about this page, click Help in the upper-right corner of the page.

  3. In the Current Agent Clusters list, right-click Agent Clusters, and then from the shortcut menu, click Add Cluster.

    -or-

Click the Add Cluster button on the toolbar.

  4. On the Add New Cluster dialog box, enter a name for the cluster and the IP address of the load balancer (router) that is configured for the new cluster, and then click Add.

The new cluster appears in the Agent Clusters list, and is also added below the Agent Clusters item in the Server Management tree.

You can move agents from one cluster to another by moving them from one cluster to the Unassigned Machines list, and then back to a different cluster.
