Tracing Communications

To help resolve connection problems, you can configure a client to capture its communications with the host. When the user launches the client, a temporary (trace) file is created on his or her machine that includes:

When that user disconnects from the host, the file is transferred to the Web server. You specify the Web server to which the trace file is sent, a name for the temporary file that is created on the user's machine, and a description that is incorporated into the file.

The client creates a separate trace file for each host session. Trace can be used with both terminal and printer configurations. Attachmate Technical Support uses the information generated by the trace to help diagnose and resolve problems.
