Management & Control Services (MCS)
Cannot import c:\Program Files\Attachmate\Systools\j2sdk1.4.2_02\systools142.reg: The specified file is not a registry script. You can import only registry files.
Click OK to clear the error message and continue. The product will install normally.
Windows 98
Because of registry limitations, the full name of the installation directory for Windows 98 cannot exceed 200 characters. If you want to install to a directory with a longer name, consider mapping or substituting a drive so that you have a shorter name.
EXTRA! for Accessory Manager
INFOConnect provides several utilities, APIs, and development kits to provide further capabilities. For more information, see INFOConnect Components in the product guide.
ATM Version Utility and Version Numbers
Individual components of INFOConnect have version numbers that differ from the product version number, and that differ from each other. This does not indicate that you do not have the correct version of all components.
![]() |
To run the Attachmate Version Utility, double-click ATMVER.EXE in the Utility folder, select the destination directory for the output file, and click Start. |
CASL Script Language
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Attachmate\Accessory Manager\Preferences
. The CASLTimeSlice key is the number of milliseconds of consecutive CPU time that the CASL runtime engine will execute before yielding to the Accessory Manager frame. A larger value will give the CASL runtime engine relatively more CPU time compared to the Accessory Manager frame; a smaller number will give the CASL runtime engine relatively less CPU time. The default value is 50 milliseconds.
Most users will never need to change the default setting. However, if your CASL scripts require large amounts of CPU time, you may want to try a higher CASLTimeSlice value. The optimal value of this setting depends on what a given particular CASL script does, and on other activity in the same PC. Experiment to determine your optimal setting.
GraphX
The INFOConnect GraphX MAPPER Graphics Accessory enables PCs using Microsoft Windows and INFOConnect Connectivity Services to emulate the graphics capability of the UTS60 terminal by interpreting the UTS60 graphics protocol commands as they are received across an INFOConnect path.
Typically, applications that directly support GraphX, such as INFOConnect UTS, will automatically run GraphX upon receipt of the proper commands from the host. In addition, GraphX may be run directly to display or print previously saved GraphX graphics by selecting, from the Start menu, Programs, INFOConnect, then GraphX.
Response Time Monitor Utility and Silent Installation
If you attempt a silent installation of RTM without first installing T27 or UTS emulation, your system may experience a GPF.
Using the JAWS Screen Reader
When using JAWS v. 6.0 Screen Reader with its default settings, it will not read host screen information. To do so, you must modify the settings by completing the steps in the following procedure.
![]() |
These modifications may not work with other versions of JAWS. |

|
Displaying QuickPads with an OLE Call
If a session displays QuickPads and you use an OLE automation call to set visible = false, subsequently issuing visible = true will not display the QuickPads until you activate the session.
Session Filename Conflict with Microsoft Access
Session files have a default file extension of .ADP. Microsoft Access uses this extension also. If you install INFOConnect on a PC where Microsoft Access is already installed, you will receive a message when you finish the installation. To avoid conflicts with Microsoft Access, you must change the default session file extension.

CASL Commands
Any CASL commands that are not listed in the CASL Script Language Guide for this release are not supported.
Macros Specific to Frame Where Generated
Macros are specific to the frame that generated them. Macros created using EXTRA.exe can only be run using EXTRA.exe, and macros created using AccMgr32.exe (Accessory Manager from the shortcut) can only be run using AccMgr32.exe.
CASL Macro Editor and the Command Fail Dialog Box
If the CASL Macro Editor displays a Command Fail dialog box, exiting Accessory Manager does not close the CASL Macro Editor.
Associating a Toolbar or QuickPad with a Recorded Host Screen
You can associate only one toolbar or QuickPad with each recorded host screen.
Navigating within the Database Editor
In the Database Editor, you can press TAB to move from the right pane to the rest of the fields on the application window.
Copying, Pasting and Moving Buttons Using the Toolbar Editor
You may experience problems copying, pasting, and moving buttons using the Toolbar Editor. For example, if you copy a button on a toolbar, the bitmap on the button will not appear until you double-click the button and click OK on the Bitmap Button dialog box.
Requirements When Querying MCS
When querying MCS, you must use a fully-qualified name or IP address for the Server URL. For example, use http://server_name.company_name.com or http://1.1.1.1 instead of http://server_name.
Two Versions of CryptoConnect
There are two versions of CryptoConnect:
Both versions of CryptoConnect contain the Attachmate CryptoConnect ES v. 6.7 encryption module, which has been certified FIPS 140-1 Validated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. This encryption module handles all of the encryption.
CryptoConnect supports the following cryptographic suites:
DSA is used to verify the integrity of the module, not for the data encryption function.
Online Help is Incomplete
The online help for CryptoConnect sessions is incomplete. For further information, see Encrypting EXTRA! for Accessory Managers Sessions in the online INFOConnect Enterprise Edition Guide.
CryptoConnect and Silent Installation
If you attempt a silent installation of CryptoConnect without first installing T27, UTS, or EXTRA! emulation, your system may experience a GPF.
INFOConnect ALC is a terminal emulator that enables PCs to communicate with any major Computer Reservation System (CRS).
Incorrect Status Line Message
LTAI might appear in the status line even if the session is disconnected from the host.
HCLN
If you are using A Series LAN Access (HLCN), older versions of SMC network drivers might interrupt communication, so make sure you are using the latest version of SMC software. You must also set IPX/SPX as the default protocol.

Color Schemes
Once you create a color scheme, you must always use a color scheme, unless you delete it. The only way to remove an entry from the Scheme list box is to delete a color scheme.
Invalid Ispec Error Message When Transmitting
In some situations (for example, if you are logging onto a LINC application), you may receive an Invalid Ispec error message when you transmit.

Specifying the Print Area
When using Print Screen from the File menu, to specify whether to print the entire screen or a selected area, use the Print Area option from the Print Screen Printer Settings dialog box — the session display setting for Print Range is ignored.
Changing Attribute Colors
Selecting Remap All Attributes on the Settings - Colors dialog box does not consistently change the colors of all the listed attributes. If you encounter this problem, manually remap the colors of the unchanged attributes.
Color Schemes
Once you create a color scheme, you must always use a color scheme, unless you delete it. The only way to remove an entry from the Scheme list box is to delete a color scheme.
PEPGate LAN Workstation and SMC Network Drivers
If you are using PEPGate LAN Workstation, older versions of SMC network drivers might interrupt communication. Be sure to use the latest version of SMC software.
Scrolling in a Background Session
If you have more than one session open and scrolling is occurring in a background session, the scrolling might freeze or slow down if a message box appears in the foreground session. (Scrolling will continue once you close the message box.) To correct this, set the data for IncreaseKeyboardResponse to FALSE in the UTS Options key in the Windows registry. This will solve this problem. However, as a result, the keyboard might not be as responsive in the session with focus.
![]() |
For information about modifying the Windows registry to add this data, from the Help menu, choose Accessory Manager Help. Next, double-click Reference Information, then UTS and the Windows Registry, and then Modifying the Windows Registry for Use with UTS. |
SSH
Keyboard interactive authentication always prompts users for login information when attempting to connect to the host. With this method, the PAM (Pluggable Authentication Module) must be set up on the host.
Passthrough Printing
If you experience problems with passthrough printing, use the Windows drivers from your printer manufacturer, not the drivers on the Windows CD or disks.
Maximum Print Environments Supported
The maximum number of print environments supported by T27 Print Services is eight.
Page Orientation
T27 Print Services does not control page orientation. You must configure this in the Windows printer configuration.
Multiple Instances
It is possible to start multiple instances of T27 Print Services.
To prevent multiple instances of T27 Print Services |
---|
|
Windows NT 4.0
You must configure a default printer in Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 before running T27 Print Services.
Windows 2000 PCs and Novell Networked Printers
On a Windows 2000 PC, with a Novell networked printer, the T27 Print Services Print Manager will only use the default printer.
Using DataXpress-ST on the PC
To use DataXpress-ST on the PC, you must have DataXpress-ST mainframe software v.3.18 or later installed on the host.
Transferring MAPPER Reports
To transfer MAPPER reports using DataXpress-ST, you must have DataXpress-ST mainframe software v.3.20 or later.
![]() |
When uploading binary files to the host, from the Upload Options dialog box, do not select To Be Used By The Host as the Utilization Of File this setting is intended for text files only. |
Removing DataXpress-ST
If you remove DataXpress-ST, you must manually delete the DXW32.ICC and DXW32.INI files from the PC.
Using INT1
When using INT1, you can set your Upload Buffers Per Cluster to a maximum of 5, and your Download Buffers Per Cluster to a maximum of 10. However, setting these parameters above 3 is not recommended, and if you are using Demand mode, you should not specify an Upload Buffers Per Cluster greater than 1. If the PC hangs during file transfers, set the Buffers Per Cluster below 3. (These parameters appear on the Communications dialog box when you edit the session configuration.)
Using DataXpress-ST on the Host
If you are using DataXpress-ST on the host, in the Security Maintenance program, you can specify a maximum of 4096 characters per buffer for uploads and downloads. However, for this release of INFOConnect DataXpress-ST, do not specify a value larger than 3700.
![]() |
In addition, the characters per buffer that you specify for the DataXpress-ST host software overrides the characters per buffer specified in the INFOConnect DataXpress-ST session configuration. |
Downloading Host Data Files in Demand Mode
If you are downloading host data files in Demand mode, the transfer status area of the session window will not display the percentage of the file transfer that has been completed.
Creating Paths From Within DataXpress-ST
Although you can create paths from within DataXpress-ST, you might need to do so using INFOConnect Manager instead. By default, users cannot create or modify library channels, and INT1 requires library channels. To create these, you must start INFOConnect Manager and log in as an administrator before you create your paths.
Logon Password Now Encrypted
Because the logon password is now encrypted, you won't be able to log on if a logon password was previously configured. If this occurs, from the Options menu, choose Settings, click the Logon tab, and then re-enter the password.
One Session at a Time
Only one FileXpress-XST session can run at a time.
Display Settings
It is recommended that you set your display to 1024 x 768 and that you run FileXpress-XST maximized.
Functions Not Supported
The following FileXpress-XST functions are not supported for HIFTs:
Translation Tables
The translation tables can be enabled via the FileXpress-XST client only; that is, the host administrator cannot enable translation tables via HIFTs.
Wildcard Uploads
FileXpress-XST is unable to perform a Wildcard Upload from a PC directory containing a space in its name (example: c:\\ My Documents). To avoid this problem, place files in a directory with a name that does not have a space in it.
MARKIDs for Source Files
FileXpress-XST will not retain the MARKIDs for source (SYMBOL) files, such as COBOL and ALGOL files.
To retain MARKIDs |

|
Pausing the File Transfer Queue
When you pause the file transfer queue, the current transfer completes before the queue pauses.
Connecting to a Host
When you connect to a host, WinFTP attempts to detect the type of the host automatically. If the directories or file listings are not displayed correctly for the host, from the Options menu, choose Settings, then from the Categories list box, click the Host Types tab. You can then change the host type to Manual, and select the correct host type from the list.
INFOConnect PTR manages printing and transaction routing by enabling several input devices (hosts) to cooperatively use and share several output devices (queues) through communication links called PTR routes. A PTR route provides several pieces of information to the PTR application, including host and queue path names, which are configured through INFOConnect. The PTR application uses symbols to show the statuses of these routes.
When you run PTR on Microsoft Windows 2000 with all routes disabled, you will receive a Management Console Error when PTR is started. However, you can still add, configure, and enable PTR routes through INFOConnect Manager. Once a PTR route is enabled or reenabled, you can start PTR as usual.
INFOConnect Split Screen Transport enables PCs using Microsoft Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0, or Windows 2000 and INFOConnect Connectivity Services (ICS) to share an INFOConnect path with multiple INFOConnect applications. When used with a Split Screen-enabled Accessory Manager frame, the frame provides additional functionality to the user.
INFOConnect Apollo Travel Services TCP/IP (ATSTCP) transport enables PCs using INFOConnect Connectivity Services to access an Apollo host.
To avoid this error, the administrator should disable the ATSTCP service, or set it to manual start. Each user can then start the transport as a standard Windows process instead of a service by executing Apollo with the "/noservice" command line option (i.e., atssrvc /noservice
) before starting the AccMgr32 frame.
A Series TCP Protocols (TCPA)
The INFOConnect A Series TCP Protocols (TCPA) enable PCs using INFOConnect T27 to communicate with a Unisys ClearPath NX/LX or A Series mainframe via a TCP/IP network.
A registry option for TCP-A paths makes the TCP-A transport ignore any control codes in the host data.
To use the TCP-A registry option |

|
CCF Protocol
The INFOConnect CCF Protocol support enables PCs to emulate T27 sessions using the CCF protocol over TCP/IP. This allows users of the obsolete NX/View product to migrate to INFOConnect.
When using CCF on Windows 2003, passwords are case sensitive.
INT-1 Protocol
The INFOConnect INT-1 Protocol enables PCs to communicate with a Unisys ClearPath IX, 2200 Series, or System 80 mainframe via a TCP/IP network.
This release does not support OSI connections.
The INT1 Transport supports a maximum of ten connections to a DCP in Gateway mode. It will support the licensed number of connections to an HLC or to a DCP in IP Router mode.
MATIP
INFOConnect MATIP (Mapping of Airline Reservation, Ticketing, and Messaging Traffic over IP Transport) enables PCs using INFOConnect Connectivity Services to access Unisys ClearPath IX, 2200 Series, and IBM TPF mainframes via TCP/IP.
Issues:
To avoid this error, the administrator should disable the MATIP service, or set it to manual start. Each user can then start the transport as a standard Windows process instead of a service by executing MATIP with the "/noservice" command line option (i.e., matipsvc /noservice
) before starting the AccMgr32 frame.
INFOConnect UDP for TPF transport (UDPFRAD) enables PCs using INFOConnect Connectivity Services to access Computer Reservations Systems (CRS) such as EDS SHARES.
PEPGate LAN Workstation
INFOConnect PEPGate LAN Workstation enables PCs using INFOConnect Connectivity Services to communicate with Unisys ClearPath IX series, 2200 Series, or System 80 hosts via a PEPGate communication server (gateway).
You cannot run two different transports that use NetBIOS simultaneously. For example, you cannot run HLCN and PEPGate LAN Workstation simultaneously.
PEPGate TCP/IP
INFOConnect OS/2 PEPGate TCP/IP transport enables PCs using INFOConnect Connectivity Services to communicate with Unisys ClearPath IX/LX 2200 Series, or System 80 hosts via a PEPGate communication server (gateway).
