Commands for Managing Events

Commands for managing events are available through the View Events page and the Notifications page. You can choose commands from the toolbar or from the shortcut menu that is displayed when you right-click a selected item in the tree or table.

View Events Page Commands

Description
   New/Edit Filter Display the Filters dialog box, in which you can add a new filter or edit an existing filter. When you select an existing saved filter from the drop-down list, it is applied to the View Events page, and the page is refreshed.
   Event Details Display details about the selected event.
   Find Display the Find dialog box, in which you can specify criteria for which to search in the events database.
   Find Previous Find a previous occurrence of the specified search criteria.
   Find Next Find the next occurrence of the specified search criteria.
   Notification Create an event notification. Items selected in the View Events page are used to prepopulate the notification rule. For information about creating notifications, see Creating Event Notifications.
   Copy Copy event details for the selected event with no special formatting.
   Export Available only in the enterprise version of MCS. Export the events displayed on the current page to an external file that can be readily opened by another program.
   Refresh Refresh the View Events page, displaying any events that have occurred since you accessed the page or changed display options.
   Columns Display the Manage Columns dialog box, which you can use to show, hide, and arrange the columns you want to display in the View Events page.

The following commands are available only to those users with the right to manage the event system in MCS.

   Configure Display the Configure Event System dialog box, in which you can configure the event system to automatically clear and create backup files of the event log, filter unwanted event information before it is stored in the event log or displayed in the View Events page, and change the number of events displayed at any one time.

Backup options are available only in the enterprise version of MCS.

   Delete Events Delete the event or events selected in the View Events page. Depending on how you have configured the event system, these items may be backed up before they are deleted.

   Messages Create and manage notification messages.
   Transports Configure event transports.
