Description

Returns or sets the type of error checking performed on each character sent or received. The computer or device you are communicating with must have the same type of error checking.

The following values indicate the type of error checking. To set the property, use either a constant or a value.

0

The parity bit is set or cleared as needed to make the number of 1's in the data bits even.

xPARITY_ODD

The parity bit is set or cleared as needed to make the number of 1's in the data bits odd.

xPARITY_NONE

2

No parity bit is added. No error checking.

xPARITY_MARK

3

Parity bit is added, but it is always set to 0. No error checking.

xPARITY_SPACE

4

Parity bit is added, but it is always set to 1. No error checking.
