Running EXTRA! X-treme from the Command Line

You can use command-line options to start EXTRA! X-treme with a specified configuration or to create new configurations on the fly.

Note
  • The command-line option creates a TN3270 connection unless a different kind of connection is specified using the /i option.

  • When running EXTRA! X-treme from the command line, a 101-key keyboard is required.

  • Localized versions are not available.
To run EXTRA! X-treme from the command line
  • At the command prompt, or the Start menu Run or (from Microsoft Vista) Start Search command, type:

    extra.exe /h "host"

    where host is the name or IP address of the host to connect to on startup. If an IP address is supplied it can be of the format abc.def.ghi.jkl:zz where the portion after the colon (:) specifies the port to connect to.

Additional command-line options are available, as specified in the table below.

Caution Parameters entered with a command-line option must be enclosed in quotation marks, and cannot contain the slash (/) character.

Option Parameters Description Default
/i filename.edp Imports settings from the specified configuration file. Sessions\ENU\Template\3270.EDP
/n   No logo; the EXTRA! splash screen is not displayed on start-up.  
/wt title Displays the specified window title in the title bar of EXTRA! X-treme. The specified title is also used as the default file name when saving the configuration file using Save As from the File menu. If more than one file exists with this name, a numerical suffix is added to the name.  
/k filename.ekm Loads the specified keyboard template. Schemes\ENU\Extra! Office (101 key).ekm
/s source directory path Specifies the source location for configuration files. installdir\ENU\Sessions
/d destination directory path Specifies the destination location for configuration files.  
/m macro Runs the specified macro as a start-up macro.
