Configuring a Session for use with Smart Cards and Express Logon

To use Express Logon, you need to create an EXTRA! session for each host application that you want to use. The host application ID is referenced in the start-up macro that you'll create in the next step.

To configure a TN3270 session for use with smart cards and Express Logon
  1. From the Start menu or shortcut, choose Attachmate EXTRA! X-treme.

  2. From the EXTRA! X-treme dialog box, select Start by Creating a New Session, and then click OK.

  3. In the New Session wizard, follow the steps to create the new session.

    Host type IBM Mainframe
    Type of session 3270 Display
    Type of connection TN3270
  4. When prompted for a Host Alias/IP Address, click Add or Edit.

  5. From the Configure Connection dialog box, specify the following:
    For this option
    Do this
    Host Alias/IP Address Type or select from the drop-down list the name of the host to which you want to connect.
    Level of Encryption Select SSL V3.0.
    Client Authentication Select Provide Client Identity, and then choose Select.
  6. From the Client Certificate Selection dialog box, select a location from which to retrieve an authentication certificate.
    If you are using
    Do this
    Express Logon without smart cards
    1. Under System Certificate Store, select option Retrieve Certification from "My" Store.

    2. Specify a location from which to retrieve an authentication certificate.
    Smart cards, with or without Express Logon
    1. Under Smart Card, select Retrieve Certificate from Smart Card.

    2. Select from the available Cryptographic Service Providers and Certificate Labels.
      Note Some smart card readers are slower than others, so the lists of Cryptographic Service Providers and Certificate Labels may take a few moments to load.
  7. Click OK.

  8. Finish configuring the new session, and then in the New Session wizard, click Finish.

If you want to use smart card access without Express Logon, you're ready to connect. If you want to use Express Logon, you need to go to the next step and create a start-up macro for your session.
