Publishing External Headers or Footers

To ensure that external headers and footers are downloaded to clients and available to other presentation designers, all external headers and footers must be published to MCS. If the external header or footer contains references to other files (such as JavaScript, cascading style sheets, or images), and the path to the referenced file is relative to the MCS database, you must also publish the referenced files.

To modify a published header, footer, or referenced file, you must modify the original file on your computer and publish it again. You cannot delete published headers, footers, or referenced files using either Presentation Integrator or MCS.

To publish an external header or footer
  1. From the Edit menu, choose Add Header Footer.

The Add Header and Footer dialog box appears.

  2. Select the Browse button adjacent to the Files list box and navigate to the desired file.

As you select a file, it is added to the Files list. Any files that the selected file references, such as JavaScript, cascading style sheets, images, and so on, are listed in the Referenced Files list.

  3. To add more reference files to the Referenced Files list box, select the Browse button adjacent to the Referenced Files list box and navigate to the desired file.

As you select a file, it is added to the Referenced Files list.

Note To remove a file from either list box, select the file and choose the Remove button. You may be prompted to confirm the removal of that file.
  4. Select OK to save your changes and close the Add Header and Footer dialog box.

All of the files in the Files and Referenced Files list boxes will be published to the MCS server when you select OK.

Note All of the files listed in this dialog box are published to Management & Control Services. However, only the files that appear in the Files list will appear in the Edit Header or Edit Footer dialog boxes, or in the headerfile or footerfile properties lists in the Resource Properties pane.
