Configuring FTP File Transfer Clients

Attachmate FTP File Transfer is a utility with a Windows Explorer-like interface that you can use to move or copy files between computers. It also provides an FTP command-line interface for users who are familiar with FTP commands, or require more sophisticated file transfer capabilities.

You can install a standalone version of this utility from the CD (see the related topic, Installing Attachmate FTP File Transfer, for more information.) Or, you can use MCS to configure an FTP file transfer session, and deploy that to users.

To configure FTP file transfer clients
  1. Run MCS.

This procedure assumes that you've already configured MCS. See the Setting Up Centralized Management topic for details.

  2. In the MCS left pane, point to Products and then click FTP Client Manager.

The Manage FTP Client Configurations page opens in the MCS right pane.

  3. Click the New Configuration link.

The FTP Client Configuration dialog box appears.

  4. Provide a name and address for the host connection.

The other settings are optional, and the end user will be able to change them. Click the Help buttons for details for each setting.

  5. Click OK to close the FTP Client Configuration dialog box.

A presentation is automatically created and stored in Presentation Manager. See the Deploying Clients in Presentations section for more information about presentations and how to deploy them.
