This file contains late-breaking information about this release of Attachmate EXTRA! X-treme Options Pack. The Attachmate EXTRA! X-treme Options Pack provides 16-bit APIs, CASL macro support, and Shared Folders.
The EXTRA! X-treme Options Pack has not been submitted for certification for Windows 2000 or any later version of Windows.
The Shared Folders Option is now provided as a Custom installation choice in EXTRA! X-treme. It is not supported by Attachmate Technical Support and is not part of a Typical Installation. To install this option, choose to perform a Custom Installation, and then select the desired option from the Custom Options list.
Market demand has fallen for certain legacy option types; therefore, Attachmate plans to retire support for these as future releases of EXTRA! are made available. If you need assistance migrating to more modern host access solutions, please contact your Attachmate sales representative, or visit our web site at http://www.attachmate.com/solutions/.
Windows and Shared Folders
Shared Folders is not currently supported for Windows 98 or any later version of Windows.
Under Windows 2000 and later, due to system security policies, restricted users cannot disconnect a Shared Folder drive. Attempting to do so results in an "Access denied" error message, and the drive becomes inaccessible or unusable, although it is still visible. Also, if the restricted user logs off and then logs on again, all drives that were mapped before the user logged off become inaccessible. The following options are available for restricted users:
If mapped drives do become inaccessible because a restricted user attempted to disconnect them, or logged off and then logged on, inaccessible drives remain visible until the user reboots. If mapped drives must be completely disconnected, the restricted user must also reboot.
